Jide Kosoko Explains Why Taiwo Hassan Cannot Be Moved From Hospital for Spiritual Treatment

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has explained why the family of actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been unable to move him from the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment to seek spiritual or other forms of alternative treatment, despite numerous offers of assistance from people across Nigeria and beyond.

Kosoko made the clarification in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, while expressing appreciation to Ogogo’s fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers who have continued to show concern about the actor’s health and offer various forms of support.

More Than 300 People Have Offered to Help

According to Kosoko, Ogogo’s family has received offers of assistance from more than 300 people, with the number possibly reaching 500.

He said each of those who reached out believed they had something that could help the veteran actor recover, with some offering medical assistance while others proposed spiritual, traditional or other forms of treatment.

Kosoko said:

“We have received offers from more than 300 people, and perhaps as many as 500, with each person believing they have something that can help him.

“The problem is simple: Where do we take him? And how can we move him from the hospital while he is still receiving treatment?”

Why Ogogo Cannot Be Moved From the Hospital

Kosoko explained that Ogogo’s current health condition makes it extremely difficult to move him away from the hospital where he is receiving care.

He appealed to individuals who have offered spiritual, traditional or other specialised forms of treatment not to feel offended or believe that the family is rejecting their assistance if they are unable to take Ogogo to their preferred locations.

The veteran actor said moving Ogogo from the hospital to different places for various treatments at this stage would be extremely difficult, particularly given the large number of people who have offered to help.

He stressed that the family's inability to accept every offer should not be interpreted as a lack of appreciation for the intentions or goodwill of those who want to assist Ogogo.

According to him, the family deeply appreciates the widespread concern and support that Nigerians and people around the world have shown towards the actor.

Family Appeals for Prayers and Support

Kosoko urged those who want to assist Ogogo to continue doing whatever they can from wherever they are while the actor remains in the hospital receiving treatment.

He appealed to fans, friends and well-wishers to continue praying for Ogogo, supporting his family and remaining hopeful that the actor will overcome the health challenge.

He said:

“Keep praying. Keep supporting us. Keep believing with us.”

The appeal comes amid widespread concern over Ogogo’s health after his daughters, Shakira and Haleemah Hassan, shared a video indicating that their father was battling stage-four cancer.

Their appeal generated significant support from Nigerians, entertainment industry colleagues and other well-wishers who expressed concern and offered assistance.

Several Nollywood actors, including Femi Adebayo and Toyin Abraham, have also been involved in efforts to mobilise support for Ogogo.

Ogogo Remains Under Medical Care

Ogogo remains under medical care as his family and colleagues continue to do everything possible to support his recovery.

His daughters had previously appealed for assistance after raising concerns about the need to secure appropriate treatment for their father. The appeals prompted numerous offers of help, including medical, spiritual and traditional treatment.

Kosoko’s latest statement was aimed at clarifying why the family has not been able to accept all the offers or move Ogogo from his current hospital.

He reiterated that the family values the love, prayers and assistance being offered by members of the public, but stressed that Ogogo’s current condition makes transferring him from the hospital for different forms of treatment difficult.

The veteran actor therefore urged everyone who wishes Ogogo well to continue supporting him through prayers and encouragement from wherever they are.

He also assured the actor’s supporters that their concern and goodwill have not gone unnoticed, saying the family remains deeply grateful for the widespread love being shown to Ogogo during this difficult period.
