ABUJA, Nigeria — October 25, 2026

The 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs National Volleyball Premier League delivered another day of intense competition in Abuja, with COAS Spikers defeating defending champions CNS Spikers while Offa VC and Nigeria Correctional Service secured hard-fought victories in five-set encounters.

The results came during Day Nine of the league's final phase at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where leading men's and women's teams are competing for the season's honours.

Nigeria Customs Service also maintained its strong performance with a straight-set victory over Life Camp VC, while Kano Pillars and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recorded convincing wins in the men's competition.

The latest results highlighted the competitive nature of the championship, with several teams recovering from difficult positions to secure valuable victories.

COAS SPIKERS HAND DEFENDING CHAMPIONS ANOTHER DEFEAT

COAS Spikers defeated CNS Spikers 3–1 in one of the day's major men's fixtures, adding to the difficulties facing the defending champions during the final phase.

The Nigerian Army side made a strong start, winning the first set 25–21 before taking the second 25–17 to establish a two-set advantage.

CNS Spikers responded in the third set, winning 25–22 to reduce the deficit and keep their hopes alive.

However, COAS Spikers maintained their composure in the fourth set, securing a 25–22 victory to complete the match.

The result gave COAS an important win against the reigning champions and reinforced their position as one of the teams capable of challenging for the title.

For CNS Spikers, the defeat represented another setback in their title defence. The champions had already suffered a loss to Nigeria Customs Service earlier in the final phase, making the latest result particularly important to their campaign.

The outcome leaves the defending champions needing stronger performances in their remaining fixtures if they are to keep their championship ambitions alive.

OFFA VC RECOVER FROM TWO SETBACKS TO DEFEAT UCEM

Offa VC produced one of the day's most impressive comebacks, defeating UCEM VC 3–2 after recovering from twice falling behind.

UCEM won the opening set 25–22, but Offa responded with a narrow 25–23 victory in the second to level the match.

The contest shifted again when UCEM dominated the third set 25–17, moving within one set of victory.

Offa refused to surrender and took the fourth set 25–22, forcing the match into a decisive fifth set.

The two-time league champions then produced a determined performance to win the decider 15–11 and complete the comeback.

The victory demonstrated Offa's ability to remain competitive under pressure and recover from difficult situations during a match.

Five-set encounters can be decided by small differences in concentration, serving, reception and the ability to convert crucial points. Offa's recovery in the fourth set gave the team another opportunity, which it used effectively in the decider.

The result also provided an important boost for the club as it seeks to finish the final phase strongly.

CORRECTIONAL SERVICE COMPLETE ANOTHER FIVE-SET COMEBACK

Nigeria Correctional Service also secured a 3–2 victory after overcoming Sunshine Spikers in another closely contested match.

Sunshine took the opening set 25–18, but Correctional Service responded with a 25–19 win in the second to restore parity.

Sunshine regained the lead by winning the third set 25–22, leaving Correctional Service needing victories in the final two sets to avoid defeat.

Correctional Service delivered an emphatic response, winning the fourth set 25–15 before dominating the decider 15–6.

The final-set margin underlined the team's strong finish after a contest in which the lead changed hands several times.

The victory was one of several matches during the final phase that demonstrated the importance of maintaining intensity throughout a best-of-five contest.

For Sunshine Spikers, the defeat will be disappointing after the team had twice moved ahead in the match. Correctional Service, however, showed greater control in the final two sets to secure the result.

CUSTOMS, KANO PILLARS AND NSCDC RECORD STRAIGHT-SET WINS

Nigeria Customs Service continued its impressive run with a 3–0 victory over Life Camp VC.

Customs controlled the match, winning the sets 25–16, 25–12 and 25–17 to complete a comprehensive victory.

Kano Pillars also won 3–0 against the Nigeria Police Force, recording set scores of 25–21, 25–20 and 25–23.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps completed the list of straight-set winners in the men's category with a 25–20, 25–22 and 25–23 victory over Ajase Ipo.

These results added further pressure to the competition as teams continued their efforts to improve their positions during the decisive phase.

Customs' victory was particularly notable because of the team's ability to maintain control across all three sets rather than allowing the match to develop into a prolonged contest.

WOMEN'S COMPETITION ALSO PRODUCES CLOSE CONTESTS

The women's category delivered several competitive matches, including two five-set encounters.

Life Camp VC defeated Excelsior VC 3–0, winning 25–19, 25–16 and 25–14.

NAF Rockets recovered from losing two consecutive sets to defeat Fire Service 3–2. After winning the opening set 25–15, Rockets lost the next two sets 25–18 and 25–22 before rallying to win the fourth 25–14 and the deciding set 15–10.

VIP Spikers also claimed a 3–2 victory over COAS Spikers in a match that featured several changes in momentum.

VIP Spikers won the opening set 26–24, but COAS responded by taking the next two sets 25–17 and 25–22.

VIP Spikers then recovered, winning the fourth set 25–11 before securing the decider 15–12.

Olalomi Royal Angels defeated Kada Emeralds 3–1 after losing the opening set 27–25. Olalomi responded with victories of 25–17, 25–19 and 25–12 to complete the turnaround.

Nigeria Customs Service also recorded a straight-set victory over NSCDC in the women's competition, winning 25–18, 25–11 and 25–18.

The results underlined the depth of competition in both divisions, with established teams facing determined challenges from opponents seeking to improve their standing.

FINAL PHASE SETS UP A DECISIVE FINISH

The league's final phase brings together leading teams competing for the national championship, making every result important as the season approaches its conclusion.

The latest round demonstrated contrasting routes to victory. Some teams secured comfortable straight-set wins, while others had to overcome deficits and maintain their composure in deciding sets.

For COAS Spikers, defeating the defending champions was an important statement of intent. Offa VC and Correctional Service, meanwhile, demonstrated resilience by recovering from difficult positions to claim five-set victories.

Nigeria Customs Service continued to show consistency, while the women's competition produced several tightly contested matches that could influence the final standings.

The remaining fixtures will determine which teams finish the season with the strongest records and which sides are best positioned to challenge for the respective titles.

For Nigerian volleyball, the intensity of the matches provides an opportunity to showcase domestic talent and maintain public interest in the national league.

As the competition continues in Abuja, the teams will need to combine technical quality, physical preparation and consistency to finish their campaigns successfully.
