EPE, Lagos State — October 25, 2026

The National Universities Commission has approved 34 undergraduate degree programmes for the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe, Lagos State, ahead of the institution's planned take-off in the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval covers programmes in computing, engineering, allied health sciences, management and science, expanding the range of disciplines the newly established federal university plans to offer.

The institution announced the approval on October 25 and advised prospective students to follow its official communication channels for updates about admissions.

The development marks an important step in preparing the university's academic offerings, but it does not mean that applications are already open.

COMPUTING AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG THE APPROVED COURSES

The university's Faculty of Computing and Informatics has six approved programmes:

  • Computer Science

  • Cyber Security

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Data Science

  • Information and Communication Technology

  • Software Engineering

These programmes cover areas associated with software development, information systems, data analysis and digital security.

The availability of these courses may interest applicants seeking technology-related qualifications, but prospective students should confirm the final admission requirements and programme details when the university publishes its admission notice.

TEN ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES APPROVED

Engineering accounts for ten of the approved programmes. They are Geomatics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The range includes disciplines connected to infrastructure, industrial production, environmental systems and technology development.

The approval establishes the programmes included in the university's announced academic offering. It does not, by itself, confirm that every laboratory, teaching facility or course-specific resource is already fully operational.

ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES INCLUDED

Seven programmes were approved under Allied Health Sciences:

  • Prosthetics and Orthotics

  • Physiotherapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Complementary and Alternative Medicines

  • Health Information Management

  • Nursing Science

  • Public Health

These disciplines cover different areas of healthcare practice, rehabilitation, health information and population health.

Applicants interested in professional healthcare courses should check the specific entry requirements and any applicable professional regulatory conditions before applying.

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE PROGRAMMES

The Faculty of Management Sciences and Technology has four approved programmes: Business Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Transportation Management.

The seven programmes listed under the Faculty of Science are Biotechnology, Forensic Science, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Marine Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Physics, and Nuclear Science.

Together, the programmes extend the university's planned offering beyond engineering and computing into scientific research, health-related sciences and business-oriented disciplines.

ADMISSION APPLICATIONS HAVE NOT BEEN CONFIRMED OPEN

The university has advised prospective applicants to monitor its official website for admission announcements.

Its earlier notice stated that the National Universities Commission conducted a resource-verification exercise at the institution on October 21, 2026, and that admission information would be announced in due course.

Candidates should therefore avoid assuming that programme approval automatically means an admission form is available.

They should also be cautious of individuals claiming they can secure admission in exchange for payment. The university has warned prospective students against paying unauthorised agents and says official admission information will be communicated through its own channels.

WHAT PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD DO

Candidates interested in the new university should monitor its official website for the opening of the admission portal, application instructions, eligibility requirements and any subsequent screening arrangements.

They should check the exact course title before making admission choices and confirm the relevant entry requirements when the official details become available.

The programme approval is a significant step in establishing the university's academic offering. The next important development for prospective students will be an official announcement confirming when applications can begin and how candidates will be assessed.

Until then, the approval of 34 programmes should be treated as confirmation of the university's planned academic options, not as a guarantee of immediate admission.
